If you do not see a class at a time you can come, or you have a group of friends who would like to take a specific class, please let us know, we will try to accommodate you.
MACHINES: We have a couple of rental machines ($10/hour) or preferably, use your own.
If using your own machine - Please bring your manual, tool kit, and bobbins
Suggested sewing kit: Sewing sheers, pins, tape measure, marking pencil/chalk, seam ripper, machine needles, notebook, pen/pencil. *If you do not have these items, you can purchase them from the shop at a 10% discount upon signing up for a class.
*Some students will take longer than others to complete their day’s tasks. You may finish early, have to finsh at home, or set up a time in the studio to finish another day.
This class is for the absolute beginner, or someone who has not sewn in years. Learn what the parts of your machine are for, insert the needle, wind the bobbin, thread the machine, starting and stopping, stitch length, tension, etc.
Bring in your machine in good working order or rent one of ours.
Learn to Sew: Envelope-style Throw Pillow Cover
Practice your sewing skills. Bring along an 18” or smaller toss cushion and 1 yard of mid weight fabric or quilting cotton. You will make a new, removable cover.
Prerequisite: Start Here! Machine Introduction or basic sewing knowledge
Make these super cute slippers for yourself or as a gift. The pattern comes in adult or children’s sizes. Use cotton, flannelette, felt, or wool to sew up these cozy slippers. They are a bit addictive to make!
$75/3 hours- includes the pattern.
The Tea Cozy makes a great gift for teachers, friends, and family. Create a padded cozy out of your choice of quilt fabric. A fat quarter is enough!
$60/3 hours Template, cotton muslin, & batting included.
Create a cheery line of bunting for any occasion- a baby or bridal shower, child’s bedroom, Canada Day party, classroom, etc. You won’t want to make only one!
You will need one or more pieces of coordinating fabric and a pack of bias tape.
WILLOW TANK dress
Grainline Studio’s Willow Tank Dress is a great simple dress. A beginning sewer can learn how to use a pattern, do seam finishing, hemming, and applying bias tape. Make this tank, tunic, or dress length!
$125/2 sessions of 3 hrs each
Tamarack Jacket by Grainline Studio is a simple jacket that is a bit of a chameleon. Check out the instagram feed #grainlinetamarack to see a bunch of examples.
This jacket is a bit more involved than the other Grainline Studio patterns. Face fabric and lining are quilted together to create a unique look. There are welt pockets for those who are more skilled.
$160/4 sessions of 2 1/2 hrs each
hadley LONG SLEEVE top
A simple long sleeved top by Grainline Studio. The pattern also includes a v-necked tank top. You will learn how to make pleats, add facings, and set in sleeves. Looks great with skinny jeans or leggings.

Absolute beginner, needing a tune up, wanting to learn a specific technique? Set up a private class with Kathy. Come once, once a week- whatever works for you!
$30 per hour
When our studio is open you are able to come in and use the sewing lounge unless there is a class in progress. Use our cutting tables and notions. You need to know how to use a machine- take an intro class if you do not know how.
$10 per hour
Hand sew or machine & hand sew this cute bag! The lined purse will be hand stitched onto a frame. There are 2 styles of frames to choose from.
$50/2-3 hours Includes the frame.
